Learning Experiences at

Orchidale Children's Nursery

Our nursery garden is an expansive and exciting outdoor space that leads into our magical, Forest School garden, where the natural world’s miracles are just waiting to be discovered. Here, our children are in fresh, rural air and develop a shared joy and a sense of wonder about nature. In our much-loved vegetable patch, they can learn to grow, tend and harvest – and even eat the rewards if they’re lucky! Inside, the nursery is open-plan and bright, a homely environment where children are watched carefully by our highly qualified and experienced team. Under their guidance and in the warm, family atmosphere, our children build curiosity and thinking, and gaining the skills that make them ready for their next steps in learning.

At Orchidale the concept of being together as a small nursery community is important, we never lose sight that each child is unique. Using natural, open-ended resources, we respond ‘in the moment’ to a child’s learning needs, instinctively creating for each and every child their individual learning steps that take lead from their learning preferences and requirements. This tailor-made curriculum enhances a child’s learning and scaffolds their play and development.

Our wide curriculum includes daily and weekly gardening, baking, Forest School and yoga. We are lucky enough to have termly visitors including Zoolab and the local fire brigade. With all our activities, and particularly in our outdoor learning and Forest School, we encourage children to take risks and challenge themselves safely. We also have on-board a qualified Preschool Teacher in whose capable hands the children have been introduced to and have expanded their knowledge of phonics, language, science and mathematics.

Here at Orchidale our specialist and experienced  fully trained Nursery Manager is Kerrie.   Over the years Kerrie has built her exceptional team showing commitment above and beyond to growing a happy community at Orchidale.

Meet our Manager:

Hi I’m Kerrie, The Nursery Manager at Orchidale Children’s Nursery.  I have worked at the Nursery since 2007 and been Manager since June 2014. I have a qualification in Children’s Learning and Development level 4 and have been working in childcare for over 15 years.  I’m happily married and have two children who have both attended Orchidale with me.
I am really passionate about children’s learning through play and being able to provide a nurturing environment where every child feels valued and cared for at a high standard. I absolutely love working at Orchidale - it is a beautiful nursery which I am very proud to be part of, and we have a fabulous long standing team of staff who are committed to making the nursery a wonderful place for all children and their families.

My favourite thing about this nursery is how much all the staff appreciate our little boy for who he is. Orchidale Children's Nursery was recommended to us and we couldn’t have found a better place for our son. We feel very happy and comfortable leaving him in the staff's care.
