Our Spaces, Rooms & Gardens

Welcome

Orchidale’s environment is thoughtfully designed, and each room holds a magical sparkle of curiosity. Our highly qualified team creates beautiful play invitations and provocations for children to explore in their own unique way.

From our home-from-home, Hygge-inspired rooms to our expansive outdoor environment, our ethos is deeply embedded throughout the nursery. At Orchidale, children build curiosity, develop their thinking, and gain the skills they need to take their next steps in learning.

Wrens

At Orchidale, we have a separate room for our 0–18-month-old children, where our experienced and caring staff closely follow each little one’s routine while providing lots of wonderful social experiences.

Our Wrens room is light and spacious, consisting of two adjoining spaces that children can freely move between, exploring a range of play provocations and natural resources. Wrens also have access to their very own outdoor garden, where they can enjoy the sensory kitchen, water their herb garden, or explore loose parts. They also go on local walks into the community using our six-seater pushchair.

We have a purpose-built dining room where our Wrens and Robins come together to enjoy home-cooked meals, with a focus on independence and socialisation during mealtimes.

Robins

Our Robins enjoy a wonderful space filled with awe and wonder. Our dedicated team sets up engaging play provocations for the children to explore. Their room opens directly onto their own outdoor space, allowing your little one to make independent choices about whether to play inside or outside.

Outdoors, you'll find a woodwork area, larger loose parts, and a herb and vegetable patch. Our resident rabbits, Coco and Marshmallow, also live in the Robins garden. The Robins venture into the community using our nursery minibuses or visit our offsite forest school.

House Martins

Our House Martins have access to an extensive outdoor space filled with loose parts, natural resources, and a large sensory kitchen- perfect for team building and collaborative play.

They also enjoy a cosy yurt with a log burner and fairy lights to create a magical hygge-inspired space, as well as double shepherd’s huts that house small world play, role play areas, and a cosy corner for reading and relaxation.

We have a dedicated growing area where children learn about the plant-to-plate life cycle, caring for their own produce throughout the year. Like the Robins, our House Martins also go on local community outings using the nursery minibuses or visit our offsite forest school.
